On March 28, 2023 Dodemaag (Clan) Teacher, Chop Waindubence, led a two-day gathering in Little Current, on the gifts and responsibilities of each of the seven clans of the Dodemaag (Clan) System. (time ran out to include the Mang (loon) clan). About 300 people attended (in person or online via Zoom) Below are the teachings, separated into individual clan videos. The Dodemaag (Clan) System is the Anishinabek Nation’s traditional way of governance from many generations ago. Anishinabek Nation Head Getzit, Richard Assinewai says that the dodemaag system of governance is B’Maakonigan.

“B’Maakonigan. That’s governance. B’Maakonigan covers everything. It’s how the law was put together for us from Manidoo (Creator). How we were governed and how everything else was governed.”
