On April 19, 2022 the name for the new central government body for self-governing First Nations who signed onto the Anishinabek Nation Governance Agreement was born. B’Maakonigan. The name was taken into ceremony by Anishinabek Nation Head Getzit Richard Assinewai in early May of that year.
